MdW Fair
Catalog & Wayfinding, 2022
with Oscar Solis & Layne Thue-Bludworth
We worked with the Co-Propserity team to create way finding, signage, and other print ephemera for the MdW fair held at Mana Contemporary in Chicago. MdW, an artist-run art fair founded in 2022 with a mission to convene alternative artist platforms in Chicago from across the Midwest. It included over 100 artist-led projects and aimed to support artists across hyperlocal scenes and build pathways for lasting coalitions of purposeful, artist-led action. Two giant floors of the building were filled with pavilions from 6 central midwestern states, art booths, publisher tables, and installations will be interspersed with open programming platforms like a print lab, screening space, presentation space and more.
Working from a previously developed identity, our team was tasked with producing a wayfinding system that felt refined, but was also loose enough in application that it could move and bend as necessary to accommodate the seemingly ever changing space at MdW. We produced a multitude of vinyl wall graphics at varying scales dictating the distance at which the can or should be read, along with Risograph printed catalogs that reinforced the ad-hoc nature of the fair while also giving attendees clear information on the happenings and locations within the event.
